Elysian Insurance Services was established in 1996, initially as a managing general agent underwriting certain classes of maritime liability insurance on behalf of American underwriters. It specialised in excess and overspill calls insurance for members of the International Group of P&I Clubs.
The business subsequently evolved into its current form, namely an insurance analytics company, primarily focused on marine liability business, but has also been involved in both other marine sectors and also non-marine liability.
Roger Ingles, Elysian’s founder, is a chartered accountant with some 40 years involvement in the insurance industry. His experience spans underwriting, broking, finance and regulation within insurance, both in the UK and Bermuda.
In establishing Elysian, Roger’s philosophy was to adapt the professional insights and high standards learned from a career in the City to the needs of the various participants in the maritime insurance value chain.
It was from his pursuit of excellence that Elysian was born:
Elysian (/ɪˈlɪzɪən), adjective: “being of such surpassing excellence as to suggest inspiration by the Gods”.
This is how Princeton University defines Elysian in its lexical database of English. It provides inspiration for the way we work. At Elysian, we focus on excellence and seek to provide a unique and exclusive service to each and every client. While our aspiration may be lofty, we keep our feet firmly on the ground and deliver practical solutions that help your business to stay informed and to compete effectively.
